Depression & Anxiety Treatment Best Practices for All Ages – Toolkit & CME

04/07/2024

Behavioral Health Clinical Strategy Committee has developed a toolkit and is offering a learning opportunity for PCPs, APPs and others regarding Depression & Anxiety Treatment best practices.

Mental health issues are affecting more people in the U.S. than ever before. Current data suggests 30% of adults have been diagnosed with depression and around 18% are currently depressed. This is up significantly from previous years. The number of specialists who treat mental health issues has not kept up with the growing needs of the population, often leading to long wait times to see a behavioral health specialist. This leaves a gap in the healthcare system that often needs to be filled by primary care providers. To help meet this need, the Behavioral Health Clinical Strategy Committee has developed a Depression & Anxiety Toolkit that includes best practices, medication tips and care management resources. The toolkit can be found on the BHN website, for providers section, under Care Standards.

Additionally, we are offering a learning opportunity for PCPs, APPs and others about implementing behavioral health screening and treatment into primary care practice. This 2 hour course will cover pediatric, adult and geriatric populations, including case studies, treatment and medication tips, plus resources for patients who need more assistance.
